I spent the past weekend in Phoenix for the inaugural Nike Golf 360 functional performance system ( FPS).
As always it was great to see all of the GIFT fellows and of course Dave Tiberio and Gary Gray. It was so exciting to hear how many of the GIFT fellows were implementing Kinesiocapture in their practices. Great to spend a weekend with practitioners dedicated to function and constant self-improvement.
Additionally I had the chance to show Kinesiocapture to the Swoosh pros, Kel Devlin and Brad Simpson who operate out of the \"Oven\" Nike Golf’s state-of-the-art research and development facility. The Oven is where the minds behind club and ball innovation come together in Fort Worth, Texas to create equipment and apparel products designed to help athletes perform at their highest level. They were very impressed and excited about the possibility of video assessment for the Nike Golf 360 program. Until now Nike was lacking the performance piece but this weekend was the kick off of bringing the Applied Functional Science (AFS) model to the Nike Golf FPS. The combination of the AFS Nike golf evaluation and real-time Kinesiocapture video assessment provides the most powerful assessment in golf today. It is clear that whether you are a golf pro, P.T, trainer, chiropractor, or coach you will soon need both these tools to be able to offer what soon will be the future of golf performance assessment. Thanks again Nike and Gray Institute for a great weekend and pushing the boundaries of function.

Dave and I just returned from our recent trip to Phoenix, AZ where we visited our friends at Athletes\' Performance, the Oakland A\'s, Drew Henley, Fischer Sports and the Kansas City Royals. With such a short turnaround this trip was jam packed with things to do. I see why Snowbirds retire and flock to AZ for the winter because the weather is out of this world this time of year.
We started with a visit to Athletes Performance to observe how the performance staff is integrating KCap into their NFL Combine prep. Kevin Elsey, Trent Wilfinger set up a fantastic tour of the AP facility which is the gold standard among combine prep facilities. I must say, AP leaves no stone unturned when it comes to offering top of the line service and quality to their athletes. These guys have it figured out. And the fact that they\'ve had so many top draft picks including 14 first rounders in the 2011 draft and 5 straight #1 overall picks says it all. Mark Verstegen and Nick Winkelman are two of the best at what they do.
The timing of this visit was perfect because it was a test week so we were privy to see Nick use KCap to capture guys like RG3, Matt Kalil, Trent Richardson, Brandon Weedon, Courtney Upshaw, Janoris Jenkins and others while running the 40 yd dash, pro agility, and 3 cone drill. 2012 NFL Draft gurus better watch out because this could be AP\'s best class yet!
We finished our tour with a fantastic lunch cooked up by the AP culinary staff and a meeting with Nick to discuss integrating KCap into their mentorship program. This will be an outstanding opportunity to travel all over the world with AP and share KCap with professionals who want to take their craft to new levels by integrating motion analysis into the AP coaching curriculum. Game changing!
Next on the list was a visit with Physical Therapist Jeff Blum and training staff of the
Kansas City Royals at their spring training facility in Surprise, AZ. We demoed KCap including the Apple TV wireless mirroring feature and discussed the upcoming launch of KCap Pro. Stay tuned for more details on this!
We finished the day with a trip to Brett Fischer\'s performance facility in Phoenix. Will Sullivan met with us and it was evident right from the start that he is a really sharp guy. Also noted right away is that Will gets motion analysis and truly understands how to assess and address human movement. Fischer Performance, another top notch facility.
Saturday had us up early for a trip to the Oakland A\'s spring trng. facility to meet with Mike Henriques and Nick Paparesta. Two classy guys who are a huge asset to the A\'s organization! These guys also get it and I look forward to doing more with the A\'s in the near future.
We finished our trip by having lunch with Drew Henley of Henley Sports Performance. I had the pleasure of meeting Drew at the 2011 NSCA AZ State clinic, he\'s a great guy and has been a big advocate of KCap over the last few months. Drew informed us that he was just hired as the Boston Red Sox AA Strength Coach and he was in the throes of preparation for his cross country trip to the Red Sox spring trng. facility in Fla. Big congrats go out to Drew and the Bosox. I get a sense that Drew is one of the hot shot up and coming MLB strength coaches, so expect to hear more about him in the future.
To wrap this up I would like to thank everyone listed above for taking the time out of their crazy schedules to meet with us. This was another great trip for KCap. It is mind blowing to think that KCap was not even a thought this time last year, and to now see these top professionals using our product is simply amazing. We are truly thankful!
Check back soon as we have a ton going on with KCap over the next few months including launch of KCap Pro, Cloud integration, education modules and exciting new features!
Till then, happy capturing!

Howdy yall!
Just got back from San Antonio and the 2011 NSCA Coaches Conference. This was another great opportunity to reconnect with old friends as well as meet new ones and share Kinesio Capture. I had the pleasure of finally meeting fellow KCapper Gary McCoy (Houston Astros AAA Strength Coach) and the guys at Turning Point. They were showcasing the Turning Point 4.0 Rotational Training Platform a really interesting tool that can assess and help improve rotary movement.
We had our first opportunity to showcase the mirroring capability of KCap through a wireless connection with Apple TV that projects live and captured footage onto any wall or screen for large group viewing. This is going to be a real game changer so watch out for future updates on this as well as our upcoming Cloud integration!
Special thanks to legendary Strength Coach Allen Hedrick for stopping by our booth and sharing some thoughts and questions about KCap. Also wanted to give a huge shout out to the Baylor Strength Staff, big Ed Cosner, Univ. of the Pacific Strength Coach Tony Sandoval, the staff from Athletes\\\' Performance, Cosmo Raines at HyperWear, friend and colleague Kansas Strength Coach Luke Bradford, Colorado Asst. Strength Coach Steven Englehart and many others who took the time out of their busy days to stop by the Kinesio Capture booth and say hi.
Well that\\\'s all for now. I\\\'ll be checking back in a few weeks to recap our upcoming trip to Phoenix where we\\\'ll be visiting with the folks at Athletes\\\' Performance to see how they are integrating KCap into their combine training. Should be awesome!
Till then Happy Capturing!

I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Military Advanced Training Center(MATC) at the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. At this amazing facility, our Wounded Warriors rehabilitate to return to duty, or resume life as a civilian veteran. My host was Harvey Naranjo form the Occupational Therapy Clinic, who is the main contact person for the Wounded Warrior Sports Project at WRNMMC.
Harvey was excited about what KCap could do for the amputee population, explaining; “these guys are so motivated to return to their active lifestyles, they ask anyone standing nearby to watch them walk”. I heard this same story from everyone Harvey introduced me to. We hope that they soon will be able to say, “hold my iPad and video tape me walking”. Then they can use our features to analyze their own gait, email the clip to a care provider, friend, family member, etc.
I spoke last with Colonel Stoneman, who was impressed with the ease of use and portability of KCap. I am hoping to return as a guest speaker for an in-service lecture on how the staff can use KCap to assist their patients with their desire to return home, to independent living. I will return as often as they will let me in the door. The spirit of these young men was staggering and humbling.
Through the Red Cross, funds are provided for Apple products, including iPads. What a win-win for a young man with a limb-loss to be able to return home, earlier than expected, through the education of immediate feedback and video analysis in authentic environments. He then arrives home in Smalltown, USA with a level of technology that local providers cannot provide, and can email video and snapshots back to Bethesda with a few taps on a touch screen.

I was lucky enough to travel to sunny San Diego to visit my long time mentor Gary Gray. He was teaching a seminar called Chain Reaction. This seminar is where I first met Gary almost 10 years ago and began my great journey with the Gray Institute. I had a great time sharing with attendees my understanding of functional movement and how we developed Kinesio Capture to quantify it. I then had dinner with a legend in the field of strength and conditioning Dr. Micheal Yessis. We discussed the importance of the educational component to our product. Yes we have a revolutionary product, but only if the person holding it understands the true power of it. That is the area we are looking at developing with some of the greatest minds in the industries of Strength and Conditioning, Physical Therapy, and Chiropractic. Stay tuned!!! I then headed up the coast to visit my long time mentor and friend Lenny Parracino. He was teaching a Functional Soft Tissue Transformation course in Hermosa Beach California. Kinesio Capture was invited to show the dramatic changes from this incredible course. We will be posting a video showing the dramatic changes before and after treatment.

Kinesio Capture Q&A w/ Rob Harris
A lot of people had questions about Kinesio Capture, so I asked Rob Harris, Vice President and Director of Sports Performance for Kinesio Capture, to come and answer a few questions.
First, let me thank you for taking the time to tell my readers more about Kinesio Capture. As I mentioned in a previous post, I was quite impressed when I first saw your product at the NSCA AZ Clinic.
Rob: Thanks Drew! In the three months since we\'ve launched Kinesio Capture the response has been nothing short of amazing. Never in my wildest dreams did any of us expect the level of positive feedback we\'ve received from strength coaches, physical therapists, chiropractors, athletic and personal trainers. It\'s funny because when we attend conferences to promote KCap, but the product really sells itself. It\'s the easiest thing I\'ve ever tried to promote in my life!
To those who are truly passionate about analyzing human movement and understanding why their athletes, clients and patients do what they do, it just makes sense to have Kinesio Capture in your toolbox.
I agree, when I saw it I was blown away by what it could do. What advantages are there to using Kinesio Capture instead of the other motion analysis software available?
Rob: The advantages that stand out right away are the portability and ease of use. Wherever you\'re at, you just simply pull out the iPad, tap on the KCap icon, capture movement, mark it up and review. You can be on the side of a pool, on a track, in an indoor practice facility, on a mountain, you name it. You can move with your athletes, clients or patients wherever they’re at so you can capture movements in authentic, dynamic and sometimes chaotic environments which is where our athletes function - right? My athletes do not function in a lab, they move up, down and around on a court, on a field, on the track, or in the pool, and for me to really understand how I can help them improve I need to see them move in their environment.
Once you\'ve captured the movements, KCap features are easy to integrate into your analysis techniques. You can easily demonstrate joint angles, level changes, range of motion, distance and ground contact times instantly.
I know from experience that when I can show an athlete as opposed to just telling or demonstrating, the learning curve is cut drastically. I can imagine how the portability and the ability for immediate feedback can benefit coaches, athletic trainers, and physical therapists. Who are some current Kinesio Capture clients and how are they using the software with their athletes and clients?
Rob: Well I\'m really excited that the US Women\'s Bobsled Team is using it as they prepare for the World Championship Season. The Women\'s Head Coach Todd Hays has been a KCap user from the beginning and he\'s been giving us some great feedback on how he\'s been able to use KCap during their starts and then reviewing it with them between runs. Brandon Marcello at Stanford is using KCap with his Olympic Sport Athletes in the weight room. Will Greenberg has been using it with the Women\'s Basketball Team at Clemson in the weight room and during practice as has Kyle Tarp at University of Maryland. Ted Rath with the Detroit Lions has had some good results with his guys in the weight room. Michael Torres at IPI has been using it with his general population clients for the instant feedback. COR Systems have been using KCap in research to show the ROM gains their clients are getting using the COR bench compared to traditional flat benches. NY Islanders, Toronto Mapleleafs, Gray Institute, Missouri Tigers, Florida Basketball, Core Functional Fitness, New Orleans Saints, Vern Gambetta, Texas Basketball, T2 Motion, I mean the list just goes on and on....
Wow, so maybe I was a little late saying KCap is going to be huge. I know the software is available for both the iPad and the iPhone. Are there any differences between the two versions?
Rob: The iPad obviously has a larger screen, enhanced frame by frame, side by side and video overlay features. The iPhone screen is just too small to get these features on it but we\'ve pretty much maxed out what both the iPhone and iPad operating systems can give us at this point. We\'ll continue to improve on both iPhone and iPad versions as the iOS continues to get better and better
There are some sacrifices when gaining that ultimate portability the iPhone offers. I think it’s difficult to truly appreciate how impressive this product is by just reading about it. Do you have any events coming where coaches can experience Kinesio Capture first hand?
Rob: Yep, we\'ll be at the Chain Reaction 3D seminar in San Diego November 10-12, NSCA Coaches Conference in San Antonio January 6th-7th 2012, University of Tennessee Strength and Conditioning Clinic March 2nd-3rd 2012, CSCCa National Conference May 9th-12th 2012, NSCA National Conference July 11th-14th, and all three Perform Better Summits next summer.
Also, we hope to visit with as many MLB teams during 2012 spring practice in Flordia and Arizona so if anyone is interested, feel free to give me a call and we\'ll set something up.
For my readers who would like to see some of what Kinesio Capture can do, but aren’t attending any of those events (or don’t want to wait until then), do you have any videos they can view online to get a feel for it?
Rob: Well because we live in a virtual world just about everything you need to know is on our website: www.kinesiocapture.com
And for those who like an interactive opportunity to gain even more information about KCap we can set up a live high def video feed and do a Q and A with you in the comfort or your office or facility.
Great, here\'s the link to those videos, I recommend checking them out. It’s some great stuff. If anyone has any other questions, what would be the best way for them to contact you or a member of the Kinesio Capture team?
Rob: rharris@kinesiocapture.com, friend us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter:@kinesiocapture
Well Rob, thanks for taking the time today, I appreciate it and I know my readers are grateful as well.
Rob: Thank you for having me Drew! Best of luck with Henley Sports Performance and I hope to see you again soon.
If I missed anything you would like to know about KCap, don’t hesitate to email Rob whatever questions you may have. As always, if I can ever be of assistance to you or your program, please feel free to contact me.
All the best,
Drew Henley, CSCS, USAW

A big thank you goes out to Drew Henley of Henley Sports Performance. He attended the clinic and wrote a review on \"4 Things I Learned at the NSCA Arizona Clinic\". Kinesio Capture was #2 and this is what he said...
\"Kinesio Capture is Amazing – Kinesio Capture is a new motion-capture software available for iPads and iPhones with incredible promise. If you’re not familiar with Kinesio Capture, you’re not alone – it’s only been available about three months – but I suspect that to change, and fast. Rob Harris was kind enough to give me a thorough explanation of the software and after testing it out myself I was blown away. I could go on and on about everything I liked about it, but I doubt I could do it justice. For more information, I recommend visiting their website, www.kinesiocapture.com, or contact Rob or any member of the Kinesio Capture team. Spend a few minutes looking into it, I promise you will be as impressed and excited as I am. Now, if I can only find someone to get me an iPad as an early Christmas gift…\"

I was honored to be asked to speak and present at Frostburg State University last Friday. I shared my journey straddling the post rehabilitation injury prevention fields. I was very excited to discuss how my team and I came up with Kinesio Capture and the role it plays in our fields. Dr. Art Sieman and Tony Zaloga the head Athletic Trainer met with me after my lecture to discuss the role Kinesio Capture can play in the Teaching curriculum at FSU. FSU is striving to be one of the pioneers in what they call \"Experiential Learning\". Learn by doing. Wow what a concept.

Just got back from a great weekend in Phoenix Arizona. KCap had the pleasure to support NSCA State Director Nick Winkelman at the NSCA Arizona State Clinic. Presenters included heavy hitters such as Mark Verstegen, Sue Falsone, Dr. Gabrielle Wulf, Charles Staley, Amanda Carlson-Phillips, Danielle Lafata, JC Cole, Eric Reed, Guido Van Reyysegem, and Nick Winkelman. This was an outstanding lineup for Nick\\\'s first clinic as state director - I can\\\'t wait to see what he comes up with next year!
If you haven\\\'t heard these guys speak yet make sure to do your research because they\\\'re sharing some powerful information.
After a loooong flight back to BWI Sunday night, Dave and I road tripped up to Princeton NJ for a long awaited meeting with our friend Michael Torres (http://m.iperformanceinstitute.com/) and his colleagues at Redcord and The Neurac Institute. Michael is a brilliant mind and KCap is looking forward to a future of working with these guys so stay tuned for the last updates...
That\\\'s all for now, make sure to check back frequently because things are really taking off for KinesioCapture - and we\\\'d hate for you to miss any status updates Thank you all for your support and make sure to keep spreading the word about KCap!
Happy Capturing!

I just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up about the NSCA Arizona State Clinic which will be Oct. 22-23rd, 2011 at the Arizona Grand Resort. Nick Winkelman has put together a world class group of presenters for this event. Plus, our very own Rob Harris will be there exhibiting Kinesio Capture!
How would you like to spend a weekend at one of the nicest hotels in Phoenix and get to spend two days learning from some of the greatest minds in the industry? Well, if you’re going to be there, say “Hello” to Rob at the meet and greet gathering for coaches Friday night at the World Famous Ruslters!
