David W. Gottfeld FAFS, MATS - President of Kinesio Capture

David W. Gottfeld FAFS, MATS
President of Kinesio Capture

Dave, founder and President of Kinesio Capture, quickly realized that traditional schools were not designed for visual tactile learners like him. Realizing he processed information differently than others only inspired Dave. What some people might call a disability soon became the inspiration for Kinesio Capture.

Recognizing that clients and patients want to be successful, Dave started collaborating with the others and soon to be co-founders to address issues of how people interpret information. The solution eventually evolved into Kinesio Capture - a powerful visual tool that is easy-to-use and can be utilized in a truly "authentic environment".

After graduating from Frostburg State University with a Bachelor's degree in Health and Fitness in 1994, Dave has been on an educational journey where he sought out and studied under many of the greatest minds in the fields on biomechanics, and injury prevention. From Greg Roskopf (founder of Muscle Activation Techniques, biomechanics consultant for Denver Broncos and Utah Jazz), Gary Gray (internationally acclaimed physical therapist- "The Father of Functional Training") and Lenny Parracino (specialist in the treatment of soft tissue injuries).

Dave travels around the country continually learning new techniques and ways to integrate ideas in groundbreaking approaches that allow him to teach and train mechanical efficiency (as well as preventing injuries) with clients. His true passion is developing innovative injury prevention programs for youth athletics, which he has developed for some of the top lacrosse programs in the nation.

Bret Strachan
Chief Operating Officer

Bret joined the Kinesio Capture team as the COO when the KCap founders realized that while they were all experts in their respective professional fields of training, the KCap team needed an individual with a proven track record in business administration. Bret brings over 20 years of experience in various disciplines of management, sales, negotiations, marketing, planning and research on a national level in a corporate environment. Additionally, Bret was a perfect fit for KCap based on his deep sports background and affinity for technology.

After graduating in 1991 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Bret went to work for an information management firm where he was promoted to operations manager after only two years. While working for this firm, Bret developed an acute interest in technology particularly in the field of the snowballing internet craze. His tech interest and sports background ultimately led to Bret being the founder and managing partner for six years of a company offering unique web based sports services.

Bret comes from a family of four boys where three of them attended college on DI scholarships for football or basketball. He is a lifelong resident of Kensington, MD where he lives with his wife, and college sweetheart, and their three kids Tucker, Shelby and Brody. Packy Kennelly, MS PT FAFS - Vice President

Packy Kennelly, MS PT FAFS
Vice President

Packy has been a Physical Therapist in outpatient orthopaedic/sports since the late 90's. He has worked for The United States Army at Walter Reed and Dewitt hospitals, as well as in private practice. He currently practices at SMARTherapy in Chevy Chase Md, with a focus on Scholastic and NCAA athletes, and occasionally, pro athletes.

He credits his experience with the GIFT Fellowship in 2007, with re-energizing his career and his approach to patient care. It is also where he met his Kinesio Capture co-founders Dave Gottfeld and Nick Studholme. He describes Kinesio Care as 'the future of assessment, patient education and documentation'.

While working with an NBA team trainer who was a student of Applied Functional Science, he began to see the limitations of the push toward protocol based care. Now using Kinesio Capture his patients get to see, on freeze-frame video playback, exactly what Packy has identified as the real source of their dysfunction, in addition to split-screen before-and-after video of their progress. This empowers the patient to own their path to recovery and to properly explain the purpose of their home program to the 'strengthen those quads' crowd.

In his spare time, this father of four coaches a youth baseball team, which has won three consecutive league crowns. Through the use of real-time, authentic environment video analysis, 10 of the 13 (nine-year old) players pitched in the spring of 2011. This depth would not have been possible without video analysis. He also uses Kinesio Capture at the pool, teaching his kids to swim.

Dr. Nick Studholme D.C., C.C.S.P., C.C.E.P - Medical Sales Director

Dr. Nick Studholme D.C., C.C.S.P., C.C.E.P
Medical Sales Director

Nick is an internationally recognized expert in Chiropractic medicine. Dr. Studholme has been in private practice in the Boulder, Colorado area since 2000. His extensive experiences and pursuit of knowledge have granted him the opportunity to teach both nationally and internationally on a variety of topics which include Emergency Procedures for the Sideline Physician, Functional Medicine, Soft Tissue Treatment and Functional Taping, and Injury Prevention.

From the time Dr. Studholme started his career, he has been on a quest to find the most effective techniques available. This journey to learn from the best in sports medicine, biomechanics, and functional movement led him to adopt one fundamental value that drives his practice philosophy: an approach that is patient driven, not technique or diagnosis driven. Nick's method of integrating the traditional and non-traditional approaches he studied allows him to achieve great results with his patients. While he has always felt confident that his treatment approach was working, he still felt the need for an objective way to measure his patient assessments and interventions.

In 2007, Nick signed up for a year-long study program called "GIFT" at the Gray Institute. During this program, he met two of the other co-founders, David Gottfeld and Packy Kennelly. Their different backgrounds, abilities and shared passion for learning began a 5-year exchange of ideas that played a major role in the creation of Kinesio Capture.

Nick continues his mission at Kinesio Capture striving to set a new standard in the field of sports assessment. His goal is to have a tool that will result in a cost-effective, indisputable, real-time objective measurement of function that can be used anywhere.

Nick currently lives in Denver, Colorado and in his free time, he enjoys hiking, snowboarding, brewing beer and spending time with his lovely wife, Laura and their dog Ruby.
